Owning an old home takes a very specific type of personality. You’ve got to have a certain amount if tenacity and patience to tackle alll of the myriad situations that old home life equals. And no one is a better example of this than Ashley Goldman of The Gold Hive. Her home is truly so beautiful and soooo lovingly renovated and refreshed. She’s literally the first person I text when I’m about to just torch my bungalow out of frustration because she’s been there, done that. Get ready for a gorgeous home tour, full of historic details and so much charm!
P.S. Usually for my Small Space Squad Home Tours series, I keep it under 1,000 sqft. However, Ashley’s home is so truly special and she is an outspoken sharer of living a more eco-friendly, reduced waste lifestyle that her home felt like the perfect fit for this series.
Instagram and I have a love/hate relationship, but one of my favorite things about it is that I’m able to connect with some truly wonderful people. In this case, I’m talking about Mary Interiano of This Thrifted Abode. I’m not even entirely sure how we connected, but Mary is one of the loveliest, most genuine people I’ve had the honor of meeting through that platform. Her home is artfully layered with boho touches spread throughout. I knew she would be the perfect interviewee for my Small Space Squad series, so let’s take a step inside and tour this small home!
The beauty of sharing Small Space Squad as a hashtag on Instagram is that I discover some truly beautiful homes unexpectedly. Such is the case with the California cool home of interior designer Chrissy McDonald, aka Harlowe James. When her gorgeous, neutral space popped up in my feed, I immediately navigated over and followed. I love how calming Chrissy’s space feels — and that it literally feels like a treehouse! Let’s take a tour and see more, shall we?
I am SO STOKED for today’s Small Space Squad home tour… because it is SO unexpected and cool. Meet Zac Ruiz and his adorable family, aka Den For Our Cubs. They live in a safari-style tent and I am so beyond obsessed. And not just normal obsessed… no, I’m full-on head-over-heads for their charming home, gorgeous aesthetic, and darling family. Let’s take a tour, shall we?
Sometimes my job is really cool and I get to interview people who are incredible and inspiring… like Arielle Vey! I’ve been a long-time fan of her photography and Instagram for so long. Her blend of juicy, saturated color with warm neutrals is so dreamy! Plus, she’s a PNW girl. Instant bonus points for that. Arielle is also a small space dweller and works out of her home. When she was interested in being part of the Small Space Squad, I jumped at the chance to share her home! Let’s take a peek into Arielle’s tiny home, shall we?
I always find home tours fascinating. It’s basically like low-level voyeurism because you can peek at how people live and enjoy other decor styles without committing. While I’m always a brat about boho and how it’s not really my jam anymore, I still appreciate the aesthetic — especially when it’s well done. For example, today’s Small Space Squad feature, Sara Toufali, aka Black & Blooms! Not only is Sara just such a kind, lovely person, but her home is airy, breezy, and so cozy. It’s one bohemian space that I definitely love. Let’s take a peek into her new home, shall we?
Typically, when I find new small space dwellers to interview for Small Space Squad, I get really, really excited. It’s not every day that you meet someone (even virtually) with the same lifestyle ethos as you! I was especially stoked when I ‘met’ Jenn Freeman from Eleven Houses. Jenn is an amazing DIY-er who is lovingly renovating a 1920s home on a budget. Oh, and she has Rebecca Atwood wallpaper in her bedroom, too! Can you see why I’d be drawn to her yet?? Let’s tour this historic, stylish small space.
