When Sean and I go camping (or even if I’m solo camping), cooking meals is usually one of my favorite parts of the entire trip. I love cooking outside and using the camp cooking kit that I’ve honed over the years (more on that here). Plus, it’s a really fun opportunity for me to try out new camping meals and explore other ways to make do with what I have on hand while we’re in the mountains. Meet my new favorite room in the house: our gear room! Formerly known as ‘the purple room,’ this room is now dedicated to all of our camping, climbing, hiking, skiing, etc gear and I LOVE IT SO MUCH. The organization alone makes me really really happy. Not to mention how easily accessed everything is when we prep for adventures. It’s just so good. I wanted to take some time to break down all of the components of the space and how I designed it to be as functional as possible.

Oh March… I’m not sure about where you live, but here in the rainy PNW this month is when I start to daydream about warmer days and going camping. Especially now that we live at the foothills of our fave mountains! I knew last week’s post about how we go car camping would be popular, so I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised that the next one you guys want is my tips for how to camp with dogs! We don’t always bring our dogs with us because they can be sort of a pain. Noodle is older, so the trips are really hard on him. But Lucy loooooves coming along. For us, it’s a balance of what we plan to do on the trip and what is safest for them. When I go solo camping though, I always bring at least one of the dogs with me for safety. This week was really eye opening to me about the type of content I can share here on the blog and on my Instagram. I went on a solo camping trip last weekend and, on a whim, decided to share about it in my Stories… and WOW, I got so many responses! I was totally not prepared for it, to be perfectly honest with you. So many people were amazed that I go camping by myself! I’ve never really thought too much about it, but I do get it. There are safety concerns, for sure. So today I wanted to share how to solo camp as a woman and why it’s so important to me to do this for my mental health and well-being (more on those benefits here)!
