With January come and gone, I still find myself focused on my health and fitness goals. I’ve got my trainer and my workout regime on lock, but I am still working on my healthy eating goals — so imagine my excitement when Burt’s Bees reached out to share the news of their new Protein Shakes! I decided to combine my favorite fruit (mango) with the vanilla powder for a delicious, filling smoothie that keeps me energized and feelin’ strong after a good workout.

This smoothie has been essential to my meal planning. First, I love that powder is plant-based, meaning that I don’t need to worry about dairy upsetting my stomach. Also, it tastes delicious. I’m partial to the vanilla flavor because it pairs so easily with so many fruits, creating a sort of creamsicle effect. Yum. I also added a bit of cinnamon to my smoothie recipe. I find that it really takes the smoothie to a totally new level by providing a deeper flavor.

I also want to share some of my best fitness tips with you guys. While I’m not exactly an expert by any means, I have found a few tricks that work for me, such as:
Establishing a consistent routine. I’m lucky enough to see a personal trainer twice a week, which has helped me build my workouts into my schedule. A lot of this is making sure I’m held accountable, that I show up at the gym at least twice a week. But she also really pushes me and changes up my workout routine every time we meet. This has been a huge for me.
Tracking my meals. For a while I was using an app to keep track of my meals, but recently switched over to a plain, old notebook. It’s not that I want to count calories. Instead, I find that writing down everything that I eat and drink helps me maintain an awareness. Did I skip breakfast and is that why I’m cranky? Did I dive into a pile of french fries and that’s why I feel sluggish? This practice helps with overall awareness.
Set an alarm. When I really thought long and hard about my fitness habits and goals, I realized that I spend an inordinate amount of time mostly sitting still at a computer. So much time, in fact, that I was concerned about it. Now I set an alarm clock. When the buzzer sounds, it’s a reminder to me to get up, stretch, walk around, and maybe even take the dogs for a spin around the block. Not only do I feel more productive, but this practice helps me stay energized throughout the day (especially in the afternoons when I tend to slump).

Mango Vanilla Protein Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 cup frozen mango
- 1 scoop Burt’s Bees™ Vanilla Protein Shake
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 banana sliced
- a drizzle of honey (optional)
Instructions
- Pour the coconut milk into a blender, adding the mango, protein shake powder, cinnamon, and banana. Mix together thoroughly, until well blended. At this point I suggest tasting the mixture. If you need a bit more sweetness, drizzle a bit of honey in and continue mixing.
- Serve with in a tall glass with a straw — bonus points for a sprig of mint! Also, if you’re using fresh mango, mix in a handful of ice cubes to help with the texture.

Yum! I add frozen berries to my protein shakes sometimes but haven’t tried mango, bet that is delicious!
Nice! I bet you could sub in the berries if you don’t have mango.
