So many amazing beauty products came out during the month of September, you guys. Because I’m more interested in a natural makeup look and skincare, I’ve been focused on those types of products. I’m such a fan of products that simply make me look like the best, most refreshed version of myself, so that’s how this month’s beauty report leans.
Makeup:
For starters, I’m super excited about Fenty Beauty for so many reasons: the range of shades, the simplicity of the products, and the packaging. I’m usually a bit hesitant about product lines associated with celebrities, so I only bought one item from the collection to start with, the Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick in Yacht Lyfe… and I freaking love it. I’ve only ever used one other highlighter stick, but what I love the most about this one is that it’s got a gorgeous peachy-pink hue that means I don’t have to put on blush as well. This highlighter provides the perfect healthy glow look, even when I’m exhausted. I highly recommend it and want to try even more of the Fenty Beauty products now.
I also really needed a new eyebrow pencil because my old one had run out. I used it as an opportunity to try a new (to me) product, Marc Jacobs Beauty Brow Wow Defining Longwear Eyebrown Pencil in ash brown. I don’t really like to have heavy, dark browns on my face so I usually go for a light, warm brown shade to fill in. This color seemed a little light at first, but blended in nicely when I layered my Glossier clear boy brow on top.
Speaking of Glossier, I got my hands on the new Wowder and absolutely adore it. Finally a powder that doesn’t make me feel like an old lady. I love how it settles in and sort of blurs out any of my imperfections or redness. It’s sort of like a really, really subtle Instagram filter, ya know?
Skincare:
I’m not very good about wearing sunscreen, but as I get older I try more and more to wear it. I tried out the Glossier Invisible Shield and liked it… but only ‘liked.’ It still has that sunscreen-y smell which I wasn’t really happy about. I’d say that’s my biggest complaint. Otherwise, the product is good. It lasts all day, absorbs quickly, and the smell even settles down.
I bought Milk Makeup Cooling Water on a whim. I think that day my eyes were really tired and puffy and I just wasn’t feeling great. This product is supposed to provide lots of hydration and even has caffeine in it to help de-puff eyes. I love the tingle that comes with it and that it makes my eyes look a bit more refreshed, but it also sort of feels like a superfluous product. I’m not sure I’d purchase it again, but for now I’m going to use it and enjoy that tingle.
Ok, I saved the best for last, the Boscia Charcoal Makeup Melter Cleaning Oil-Balm. This stuff is the TRUTH. I’m religious about taking off my makeup, but feel like I never can seem to get it all off. When I placed my Sephora order last month, I got a sample of this and will absolutely be purchasing the full size when I run out. It’s truly the best makeup remover for eye makeup that I’ve ever used.
