During the holidays, it felt like all I could do was just hold on tight. My skincare routine took a major hit because I was so damn busy, but during the month of January I worked really hard to get back on track. Honestly, my skin has never looked better than it has lately. I think it’s because I’ve really put a lot of time and effort into finding products that keep me moisturized and glowing. I always make sure that I try a product for at least 3 weeks before recommending it to you guys, too. Here’s my January skincare and beauty edit!
Skincare:
When I really want to unwind after a stressful day, I take a luxurious bath. I always use Hillockburn Farm bath salts and lately have been combining the Cleopatra and the Immunity salts. My skin always feels soooo soft after even just a 15 minute soak.
For my nighttime skincare routine, I’ve been using a few products religiously. After I apply my toners and serums, I’ve been using Perricone MD Cold Plasma+ to moisturize and I love it. It absorbs so quickly and doesn’t feel heavy at all. Then I apply Shiseido Essential Energy Moisturizing Cream to my eye area. I feel liek I’m constantly on the hunt for an eye cream that doesn’t irritate my eyes, but also that works. This one has been fitting the bill lately. The texture is really nice and light, too. I’ve also been using a second moisturizing layer at night by smoothing Sunday Riley Sleeping Night Oil on as my last step in my skincare routine. I love how this stuff smells, but I noticed that the ingredient list mentions that it includes blue dye… which is annoying. I’m sort of having an existential crisis on whether I’d purchase this again because I tend to only want the purest of ingredients on my face and dyes just aren’t really necessary. I do love the way the oil works though, so it’s kind of a conundrum for me.
In terms of masks, I’ve been positively loving the Boscia Charcoal Pore Pudding Intensive Wash-Off Treeatment. My skin responds really well to charcoal masks, but this one seems different. Since I started using it twice a week, I’ve noticed a dramatic reduction in breakouts on my skin. It’s awesome!
For Christmas, Sean gave me a bottle Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir and I am so damn obsessed with it. It’s honestly the perfect sexy wintertime fragrance. I can’t get enough!
Disclosure: I was gifted Perricone MD Cold Plasma+, Shiseido Essential Energy Moisturizing Cream and Boscia Charcoal Pore Pudding Intensive Wash-Off Treeatment to review, but will always share only what I truly love with you.
Makeup:
This month’s beauty products seem to fall into one of two categories: face makeup (highlighters, blush, bronzer) or lip products. To start, I have been obsessed with this highlighting palette from Flower. If you’re pale like me and don’t often wear a full face of makeup, this palette is soooo good. I’ve been using the middle pink shade the most. I picked up this Tarte blush palette a few months ago and absolutely love it, but it was limited edition! Such a bummer cuz it’s reallllly good (and the packaging is super cute). As for bronzing/contouring, I’ve been using this Stila Stay All Day bronzer and it is SO good and not too orange-y. The world of contouring is still very new to me, but I like that this is subtle enough for me to attempt it without looking insane.
As for lip products, I’ve been really into pink-ish nude colors. My two favorites right now are Butter London Canyon Rose Lippy and Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick.
And last, but not least my new absolute favorite mascara is the No Mascara Mascara from Perricone MD. The wand on is SO GOOD and doesn’t clump at all. My lashes always look so much longer and thicker when I use this. Plus, it’s really easy to wash off, which is a big plus in my book.
