For March’s small space entertaining post, I want to change things up a bit. Instead we’re talking about a quirk of mine — my love of Pi Day. It’s not so much that I’m a math nerd — in fact I am quite terrible at math. But it is a day when it’s perfectly acceptable to eat lots and lots of pie, which just happens to be my favorite food. Add in that today is just a few days away from my birthday and well… pie for everyone! Recently I hosted a super-cute pie tasting party at the tiny bungalow so that I could share my favorites with my friends. Thanks to the easy-to-use P-touch Embellish, I was able to custom label the types of pie, making my tablescape even more chic!
To start my tablescape, I placed a vintage Hmong textile to act as tablerunner. I love how the subtle pattern and worn away bits give my table some additional texture. From there, I placed individual cake stands and dishes, making sure that each type was easily accessible for my guests. I focused on using different heights, so my tablescape had multiple levels.
I also laid out lots of vintage silver forks, simple white dessert plates, and natural linen napkins for my guests to easily grab. My focus was to keep it nice and casual!
And now the finishing touch! I ordered these inexpensive gold pie servers in bulk, but spruced them up with ribbons. Each pie has it’s own server and each server is labeled with a ribbon saying what type of pie it is! It’s darling touches like this that make me so happy to play hostess whenever possible.
The P-touch Embellish allows you to print on either satin ribbon or tape in tons of fonts, patterns, borders, and symbols. The possibilities are endless! And it’s so easy to use: after removing the printer from the box, I was able to print directly on to the satin ribbon within a few minutes. I can’t wait to use this handy little guy when the holidays roll around!
If you’d like to add a Brother P-touch Embellish to your craft collection, you can order it online here or at your local Michaels.
Happy Pi Day! I hope you get a belly full of pie, too.
