When I watch this video, it really does feel like we’re in the home stretch. If there is one piece of this massive kitchen-shaped puzzle that has been missing, it’s the sink. After 6 months of washing dishes either with the hose (it is currently 22 degrees in Seattle) or in the bathtub… our new farmhouse sink is positively a dream.

Our Kitchen Renovation: Progress Report #5
After our last progress report, Sean and I really needed a break. To be totally honest, we started fighting… and in front of our new contractor! Never good. Ever since letting go of our first contractor and spending so much time to correct stuff, we were working on the space way too much. That means evenings after working all day and then all day all weekend long… We just sort of reached a breaking point. Last weekend, we decided to take some time off from the kitchen and focus on our other big project, the wedding. After some much-needed time off in the mountains, we finally feel refreshed and ready to tackle more of the renovation.

Can we talk about how amazing it is to have a sink again??? I am still astounded by how much I love our farmhouse sink. For reference, it is the Bradstreet II Fireclay sink. The first thing I did was put the dogs in it. You see, I’ve never had a sink that big before! It was so fun to see that they both fit.

A while ago, I shared that we had chosen to install the Delta Faucets Trinsic single handle pull-down kitchen faucet in matte black. Right now, it is loosely installed so that we could make sure the placement is correct before countertops are installed. In the meantime, that means that we finally have running water in the kitchen!!! Such a life changing moment.
I also love how it adds a beautifully modern touch to our farmhouse sink. There’s contrast, but not too much. I can already imagine a wooden scrub brush and cute soap bottle next to it…

Even though we haven’t installed the countertops or the cooktop yet, I’m still using the kitchen to cook… which has been GLORIOUS. I’m already back into the swing of meal prep. Seriously, after 6 months of delivery, frozen meals, and PB & J sandwiches, I’m beyond happy to be cooking again.
And just for fun, I have been keeping our ‘swatch’ of Polycor’s White Cherokee honed marble on the counter so I can imagine how it will look. Can you see it coming together?? I totally can.

Remaining Tasks (in no particular order!):
- finish plumbing for the dishwasher
- install cooktopfinish electrical
- install LED can lighting in ceiling and other lighting
- plumb pot filler
- countertops and backsplash
- install interior of the closet
- paint
- hang open shelving over pantry
