Ever since we moved to literally the middle of nowhere, our date nights have been more of a DIY affair. Gone are the days of dinner and a movie — especially given that our living room doesn’t have space to accommodate a TV. I’ve wanted to get a projector for ages, but as someone who isn’t especially tech-savvy, I didn’t know where to start. Enter BenQ and their range of portable projectors! We’ve been using ours for months now, so today I wanted to share about how we’ve created a cozy mini theater in our cabin.
All About Our BenQ Portable Projector
We’ve absolutely loved the addition of our BenQ GV30 portable projector into our lives. Not only is it the perfect way to watch cozy movies at home without having a giant TV in the room, it’s portable… which means we can take it anywhere! Plus we can pack it into a cute carrying case and put it away when not in use, something that my delicate designer eyes majorly appreciate.

Quality
While looking for a projector, I wanted to make sure we were choosing one that had all the bells and whistles, settings, and quality projection that we needed. As a very visual person, it was especially important to me that our projector gave us a vibrant, bright picture on the screen — and the GV30 does just that because it’s powered by BenQ’s CinematicColor.
Here are some stats:
- 720p HD clarity
- 300-lumen brightness
- 150 minutes of video playtime
- 280 minutes of music playtime
- Project an 80” image from 7’ away
- Auto vertical keystone

Flexibility
We also were obsessed with the idea of a projector that can be tucked away when not in use, but also can be taken anywhere. How awesome is it that we can now have movie night outdoors (weather permitting), on our sailboat or even in our van. Literally, we’ve taken it camping in our van and tucked in with the dogs for a cozy movie night at 4000′ elevation. The projector has a 2.5 hour battery life so you can take it anywhere. It’s so fun.
Also, while BenQ’s projector is all-in-one with their app capabilities, we especially love that we can easily mirror our devices using Apple Airplay or Google Chromecast. Let’s just say I’ve gotten a bit carried away with making presentations to convince Sean to tackle more home renovation projects with me…

Aesthetics
And when do we talk about how CUTE the GV30 projector is?? I love the sleek minimalist design and how easy and hands on it is to adjust the picture. Simply rotate the angle of the projector to adjust. You can even point it at the ceiling which is pretty rad.
It’s pretty tricky to get photos at night of the projector, so instead here’s a video so you can see it in action! Any questions? Leave a comment and let me know what you think of our new projector!
