If there is one thing I’ve learned after 3 winters in our cabin… protecting your skin against the cold winter air is key for avoiding itchy, dry skin during this season! It seems so basic, but it’s so necessary. Keeping your skin properly hydrated is essential for achieving a healthier complexion, and the right moisturizers and treatments can make all the difference. To help your skin remain nourished and refreshed during the winter months, these 9 products are must-haves in my book. I’ve done a ton of research and product testing for my personal needs, so I hope you find this list helpful!
9 Hydrating Products I Swear By to Project Against Dry Skin This Winter
Even though sharing skincare and beauty products most likely isn’t why you’ve come to my blog, I am very much a real human being with real skincare needs! I live in a really specific climate and, with that, has come some specific needs… like really getting serious about dealing with my dry skin every winter. Plus, trying out skincare products is a personal passion that I can’t help but share sometimes.
Let’s dig into my tips and fave products!
Invest in a Moisturizer… or a few!
A quality moisturizer is a must-have to protect your skin this winter. Choose a lightweight option that won’t leave your skin feeling greasy while providing deep nourishment. Go for ones that include natural ingredients like aloe vera and shea butter, that nourish and calm the skin while also helping to lock in moisture.
Here’s my favorite combination of moisturizing skincare products that soothe my dry winter facial skin:

Youth To The People Triple Peptide Hydrating + Firming Oasis Serum with Hyaluronic Acid
I use this hydrating serum to combat my dry winter skin every day. It’s great for dehydrated skin while also plumping to fill in fine lines and wrinkles.

CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion
Even though this product is for nighttime use, I have found that it works wonders for my skin when I use it during the daytime, especially since most days I work from home. That just means I can use a heavier moisturizer! This hydrating night cream has really great ingredients including Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide while also being really lightweight and oil-free.

This multipurpose balm is truly one of the best skincare products I have ever used, hands down! It’s so incredibly moisturizing, smells great and works so well to combat dry skin in the winter. I use this nearly every night when my facial skin feels dry and tight.

I could talk about this lip balm FOREVER. It’s truly the best lip balm I’ve ever used and it’s absolutely perfect for dry lips during the winter.
I use it throughout the day and also apply a really thick layer at bedtime. It’s so rich and luxurious!
Use Protective Balms and Oils On Dry Areas
Apply thick moisturizing balm and nourishing oils to any dry areas of your skin to lock in hydration and boost the lipid barrier for deep, long-lasting hydration. Look for products with ceramides or natural oils like almond, jojoba, argan or olive oil to help keep skin feeling soft and smooth throughout the cold winter months.
My favorite hydrating skincare products:

Naturium The Glow Getter Multi-Oil Hydrating Body Wash
Admittedly, I was served an ad for this product. What ultimately convinced me to try this gentle cleanser are all the 5 star reviews on Amazon though. I use this as my wintertime body wash to add extra hydration.
To get the most out of it’s hydrating ingredients, I smooth it onto my skin in the shower and let it sit for a bit, then lather and rinse. While I don’t love the scent of this product, it fades pretty quickly and leaves my skin soooo soft and smooth.

Lubriderm Daily Moisture Hydrating Unscented Body Lotion
There are SO many daily moisturizers and lotions for dry skin, but this basic one has always been my go-to. It doesn’t smell like anything, absorbs really quickly and it’s just reliable and GOOD!

Nécessaire The Body Serum – With Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide + Ceramide
When my skin feels extra dry (like when it snows), I also add one or two pumps of this serum to the Lubriderm lotion and combine it before applying. I figure it’s always a good idea to get a little bit more moisture in!

A good hand cream (or two!) is another essential that I swear by. My hands can get incredibly chapped and dry, but this glycerin cream is such a lifesaver! It works really quickly.

I also LOVE this sandalwood and ginger hand cream. It’s from one of my fave clean beauty brands, works well and absorbs quickly. Plus, it smells so good.
If you’re in the market for hand creams and want to know more about my faves, definitely check out this post.

Remember to Hydrate From Within
And lastly… don’t forget to hydrate from within by drinking lots of water. In addition to using external products, make sure you are also drinking enough water and getting the nutrients you need to keep skin looking and feeling its best.
Drinking a cup of warm lemon water first thing in the morning helps keep your body hydrated and can flush out toxins, while eating foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids is also good for preventing dryness. Supplements like probiotics can help boost natural collagen production which supports youthful looking skin.
