It isn’t often that I get to trulyyy take my time when getting to know a product that’s been given to me for review. Typically I get a month or two. But when it comes to selecting the best mattress to recommend to you, I wanted to take my time and do it right. Avocado Mattress was kind enough to send us a new king size mattress when we moved back in September and I’m just posting my review, so you know I’ve given it my due diligence! I couldn’t be more stoked to share my Avocado Mattress review with you today — it’s just so good. Here’s why!
We spend one-third of a day in bed and quality sleep is super important for overall health and wellness. Through my lifelong journey with insomnia, I’ve realized that making my bed my favorite place in the whole world helps me want to sleep. Naturally, bedding is the foundation of a cozy night’s sleep. Joanna kindly asked me to use my knowledge of sustainability to break down about a few brands that make eco-friendly bedding. In this post, I’ll cover what makes a brand sustainable, what to look for when you’re shopping, and the five brands that are doing sustainable bedding well.
To be totally honest, I haven’t been shopping much. It’s not like I really have anywhere to go! But now that it’s summer, there are a few key pieces I have my eyes on — and all are from sustainable fashion brands. I’ve really been focusing on ‘greening up’ my wardrobe choices, so I recently did a deep dive on Instagram to discover new eco-friendly options. Here are a few you might be into!
It’s taken me quite a while to get this post fully fleshed out and written, but it’s definitely one that I’m asked over and over again! If you’ve ever wondered how to start composting at home, this guide is for you. I tried to keep it as easy and informative as possible, but if you have any outstanding questions, definitely leave a comment on this post. And by no means am I an expert in composting — this post is based off of what I’ve researched, but also what’s worked for us. Climate and location are factors in how you should compost, so be sure to research anything specific to your home, too. We’re in Seattle, so our compost ‘recipe’ reflects that. Let’s dig in (pun very much intended).
Thanks to our burgeoning vegetable garden and my obsession with our local farmers market, we always have a lot of fresh produce on hand. If you’re like me or have a CSA sometimes it’s really hard to keep up with making sure everything is eaten before it spoils. I used to google ‘how to store X’ in order to find out the best way. At some point, it got really annoying, especially when Sean asked me how to do it. So I decided to make a list of what goes where (counter, pantry, fridge, etc). If you’ve ever wondered how to store produce so it lasts longer, this is the post for you!
I know so many people are sharing posts about loungewear, pajamas, and athleisure clothing… but for me, it felt like a good opportunity to share ethically made options in that category. Especially because I haven’t seen anyone do it yet! If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that my most recent fashion journey (if you can call it that) involves making more eco-friendly choices. I recently purchased a few sustainable loungewear items and definitely thought I needed to share some of what I found with you! I hope this post inspires you to go green with your shopping, even now.

With 2 humans, 2 dogs, 1 cat, and currently 6 baby chickens, our house might be small but it can get messy rather quickly. Now, more than ever before, we are focused on cleaning and disinfecting as much as we can — but in a sustainable, earth-friendly way. Today I am so excited because I teamed up with Grove Collaborative, a service I have personally used for years, to share my sustainable cleaning toolkit with you! That includes everything I use, how I use it, and why I love it.
